What's going on inside Mud & Prints Studio // Gallery Life Drawing

Updated: Oct 24, 2018

There are many artists involved in different ways at Mud & Prints Studio//Gallery. Some are teachers, some are featured artists and some come to learn.

Here are some words from Mud & Prints Artists

“Coming to life drawing helps me to recharge and be more creative when I begin new paintings back in my studio. I look forward to see who the model for life drawing at Mud and Prints is going to be.  Each week there is a themed model with backdrops to compliment the theme and model.  Clothed or nude, with interesting lighting, it is a challenge for me.  Once in awhile there are two models which can be extra challenging but that’s what we as artist appreciate. Warming up with a few short poses gets me to loosen up and be ready for the long poses.  Then longer poses allow me to work on exact measurements (hopefully to look like the model) with artistic mark making whether I am painting or drawing.  I don’t always succeed but that’s ok.  Practice makes perfect so I’ll continue.  The atmosphere I find is always relaxing and friendly.  A nice addition to the Appleton art scene.” Patt **********************************

I’m a comic artist and I know how important drawing the human figure is in my trade. I go to weekly figure drawing at Mud & Prints and it’s been ground-breaking for my art! 💃 Linda goes above and beyond at getting a variety of different models. Some sessions are clothed and some are nude. She even goes as far as setting up backgrounds that fit with the themes of the costumes and poses. We usually start with some short poses and build up to longer poses. The lighting on the figures is great too. From drawing to painting, you can use any medium that you desire. 🕺🏼 It’s not required to show up every week, in case something in life comes up, and you pay per session you attend. You get a stamp card and Linda throws a free session after you attended so many. Linda is open to comments and feedback with the sessions and makes changes based on the artists’ needs in the studio. It’s also a very casual environment to meet the other artists in this area too. 👨🏻‍🎨 I’m learning a lot and my art is really growing each week I attend. Drawing from life is very crucial for artistic growth and this is one of the few places in the valley that offers life drawing models at a very reasonable price. ✍🏼 🎨
